Hello there, I am purchasing an xps 420 in the next week and the graphics card thats going to be arriving with it is not the best so i need a decent card, Also not to sure what power supply will be arriving with it, So any suggestions for this system:

4096MB 800Mhz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (4x1024)

24" Dell S2409W 24 Inch Full HD Flat Panel Monitor

Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer PCI Soundcard

Creative Labs Inspire T10 Speakers

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

The graphics card coming with the system was the cheapest one available, I chose that because i want a better card, Its the 256MB ATI Radeon 3650 HD Graphics card, And i will be using it for the usual gaming, Movies mostly.

Are you fixed on ATI ? If not you can look at the 9800GT or GTX or the GTX 260 or 280

Well, After looking at a couple of sites people seem to be mentioning a 512mb radeon hd 4870, Not this one specifically, Will one of these be suitable for the system i am getting?

Anything thats close to this would be ideal.

I have seen in other threads where 420 owners are running either the 9800 gtx+ or the gtx260 with the 425w psu. They are big cards, but they fit in the 420.

Yes if you go with the GTX or GTX2 9800 series or GTX 260 you will proably need to upgrade your powersupply to the 425W if you stay with the 9800GT or GTX the 375w supply will be fine.

Yes you could just order a 425W supply from Dell if you want to run these higher end cards.

So if i was to purchase a 9800 gtx or a 260 gtx or any one of the cards mentioned and my system had a 375w psu delivered with it, Would it just be a case of replacing it with a 425w psu.

If you're going to go with the GTX 260, you need a power supply with 500w. If you decide to go with the GTX 280, you need a power supply with a minimum of 550w.

So would it be worth upgrading the psu for a GTX 260 card?

Definitely worth it. With a 375w psu, you are very limited as to what you can put in your case.
