Hard disk drive not installed
I have a Dell - Dimension 8300 Series
Intel Pentium 4 Processer: 3.00GHz
BIOS Version: A07
I choose to reinstall windows XP and when it boots it can not find the hard disk drive.
I select the bios and the boot sequence show:
1. IDE CD-ROM Device
2. Hard disk drive (not installed)
3. MBA v3.1.29 Slot 0210
When I ran Norton diagnostics tools it shows:
Primary SATA Drive 0: No device
Secondary SATA Drive 0: No device
Primary IDE Drive 0: No device, and Drive 1: No device
Secondary IDE Drive 0: HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8162B - Diagnostics not supported
Drive 1: SONY CD-RW CRX216E - Diagnostics not supported
No Hard Drives installed, press any key to continue
I need help.

I don't have answer but I have the exact same problem except mine came up when the computer was turned off and then turned back on. I ran diagnostics tool that is on my all in one inspiron 2300 touch screen and got error code 2000-0141 validation 23718 no hard drive detected call dellsupport. Like you I need some help. I'm checking a few other people and going to call dell Ill let you know what i find out. Let me know what you hear. I'll be back on tomorrow afternoon. Hope its something we can fix. Thanks, Terry
