Has anyone taken delivery of the New Studio XPS 435/8000/9000?
I have one on order with the delivery date of 4/1/09. If anyone has been shipped theirs and had time to put it through it's paces, please comment on what you think. If not please post your expected ship dates so we will know who will be the first to comment!
Thanks!

I ordered mine on 4/8/2009 with a estimated ship date of 05/19/2009. I have tried call their customer support and have been frustrated in their inability to provide me with a stratight answer as to why it is taking so long. It is intresting to note that the repsonses given by cutomer service are identical to what others have posted in the forum "word for word".
On the website tonight I see that the 1024MB ATI Video Board will possibly cause a delivery delay

I have a Canon Vixia HG 20 it has a 60 Gig drive and can use SDHC memory and it works beautifully on the 435MT. The other computer I had would not do 1920 x 1080 or anything even close so I could not even attempt to play the videos. I am fortunate that the Software that came with the camera works on Vista 64 just fine. I would love to have Adobe Premiere CS4 though. Is that expensive and can you convert to other formats?

Unless you are doing heavy editing at a prosumer/professional level, I would suggest starting with Premiere Elements 7. Its under $100 and is still a very very powerful editing tool. The interface is extremely simple to understand since it leaves out much of the advanced features of Premiere that the average person would never make use of anyway. Filters and color correction workflows are still quite powerful and extremely simple to use as well. Here's a quick test of my VIXIA that I put together using Premiere Elements and saved out to a 720p MPEG. http://www.vimeo.com/4213697 Vimeo compresses the file more than YouTube HD does. Here's the same clip on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfDpYUVjdAo ... just make sure you click the HD button so see it properly.

Mine came last Friday. So far it's great although it's more computer than I remotely need. Dell called on Monday to see if everything was alright with computer. Nice touch. The 750 g HD seems to constantly make a small bit of noise. BIOS is A05. When Dell called I asked if I should do the recommended and urgent updates and the guy said to do the BIOS, Chipset, and one for my HD. When I called Dell Tech the lady said don't do them, so I've only done the chipset one so far.
The 435T replaces a 9 year old 8200, so it does seem a tad faster AND cost half as much as the 8200! I can have really tall bamboo now by rotating the 2408.:emotion-11:

received my two 435MT's in today, fan is not as noisy as people had described, for those of you updating drivers and your Bios without looking at the current version, my bios was *.13 , the one for download from dell was *.12 .. an older one... so watch downgrading your hardware. I had also read that there was no room inside the MT's case... not true... I tossed in a second hard drive and there is plenty of space. The case sure is alot smaller then my old Dell XPS 410 tho. The only things I updated was the windows updates... none of the hard ware needed updated.. over all its a nice system.

So, who to believe - my lyin' eyes or my lyin' ears.
As I logged into the on-line status this morning, I briefly saw my status as Preparing for Shipment or at least words to that effect. I'm not exactly sure because my screen immediately refreshed and my status in now back "In Production" with an updated delivery date of 4/30 (it was 4/23 last night). I've cleared my cache and even checked on my iPhone browser to make sure that it is a current screen. It is.
The automated phone line says my machine is "we are currently preparing your order to be shipped."
I'll try both later. Here's hoping two fork lifts didn't have a collision trying to get to the shipping dock too quickly.

I ordered on 4/6 and had a ship date of 4/30. When I looked today my 435MT has shipped and will be delivered Friday.

Bob,
Don't get too discouraged. Once they start actually building, it goes pretty quickly. The ship dates seem only to be broad markers that try to bound the process, but lately most actual shipments beat the most current updated ship dates. Of course, if 4/28 rolls around and your unit isn't shipped a new updated ship date will be posted showing another delay of one week. Hopefully it is a matter of days in your case.

jjon,
You mean like a smartfilm/Instant Movie type thing? It will import all the footage and drop it into the timeline automatically if that's what you mean. You can do it manually or have Elements do it for you. If you mean something else, sorry for misunderstanding :)

I find it quite unfortunate that relevant 435T/435MT info will be buried within this almost horrifyingly bloated and cumbersome 60+ page "shipping delayed - are-we-there-yet" thread.
Dell's forum software leaves a lot to be desired, thus making the ability to find meaningful info virtually impossible in a thread of this nature. Seems far more prudent to post actual 435 information within a subject specific thread of substance.

Jon,
Yes, it can automatically do that. Just point it to the folder where the .mts files are located and it will import them all to the timeline. Then go to the Share tab and select DVD or Blu-Ray as the output medium. You can even apply a DVD menu template to the "InstantMovie" if you so choose.

I-vol,
We're just posting all this irrelevant info to lure you back to the thread! Welcome back! Is the 435 owners thread going in the same direction??
