Help! Need a new power supply and video card.
Hello, i have an Inspiron 530 Desktop(not slim) and im looking for a new video card, i heard the default 350 watt power supply doesnt give me many options. After hours of research i have yet to really understand any of my options. With a 500-600 dollar budget im wondering if someone can help me with both a new power supply and video card. Thanks a lot!

I can't give you any video card suggestions. Your applications or uses for the new card will be the primary determination.
For a power supply, get a "good quality" power supply and as the ATX power supplies are all the same physical size, go for a 550 or 600 watt model, to have reserve power. Also, consider a "modular" type power supply as this will help to eliminate cable clutter inside the case. Non modular types have more cables than are needed and the extra cables must be "stuffed" inside the case and potentially can affect air flow and cooling. HERE is an EXAMPLE of a good grade modular power supply (and what I have in my home built PC).
The 530 uses a PCIeX16 Video Card, however, you have to be careful as some are "oversized" and may not fit (too long). Some are also dual (two wide) and if you have other cards installed that can be an issue to consider. The site that I linked to the power supply example www.newegg.com is a good place to look over Video cards (and where I buy most of my PC parts). If you want one that has an HDMI connection for a TV consider a card that has it's own built in audio "card" rather than one that relies on the PC's basic audio as that can be an issue getting it connected to the video card. Although I have an "older" Video card, the ATI Radeon HD4850 that I have has HDMI with built in audio. There are newer ATI Radeon cards and there are newer NVIDIA cards.

Hi, You can put any type of ATX PSU into your system if you want to. Or you can save yourself a bit of money, by just putting in the 5570 card HERE. That will run off your 300w PSU with no problems.
