High temperatures in my Dell computer

I own a Dell Studio XPS 435mt. It's been a good creature comfort. But it's always been a great heater for my feet. At one point, both the mobo and the gpu were pumping out the bottom of . Course, it helps to live in the great state of Washington. Temperatures are more than often cool. What I want to know is, how much heat is normal for this computer (or for any computer)?

I've seen the mobo temps soar sometimes to 165F+ and I know that can't be good. I cook eggs at that temperature. I've done a few  modifications to keep the temps down. Beefed up the inhale-exhale fans, experimented with various NB fans and heatsinks, added a larger PSU, got rid of the more complex programs to streamline processing, twice replaced the Radeon HD4850 video card it came with. Right now, on idle, it hits about 122/126F which I think is o.k. When I stream video, run mulit programs, or play a game, the mobo goes to 138F+ and the cpu hits132F. My old Pentium 3 & 4 computers never hit temps this high.
