Hooking up a second monitor on my dell xps 435
Would it be possible to hook up a second monitor to watch movies while I look on the internet on my first monitor? I figured you could hook up a second one, but I wasn't sure if you could get them to do two different things. Thanks.

Hi Mikej327,
You need to provide the model of your graphics adapter. You can find this in device manager.

The model is ATI Radeon HD 4800 series. Thanks for your reply.

I'm sure the answer is there but I can't find it: http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-4000/Pages/ati-radeon-hd-4000-series.aspx

Hmm I can't find it either. But do you think it's possible to do? If so I can probably figure it out myself eventually.

If your video card has two input ports, you can connect a second monitor to the open port. Some cards have a VGA and DVI port and others have 2 DVI ports.

Ok I finally got a second monitor to try this with. I have it hooked up, but I cant figure out how to get each monitor to do something different. I can have both monitors display the same thing, or I can move the image to one monitor and have the second one off. Any help is appreciated.
