Inspirion 530S Suddenly "Wakes Up" at High Fan Speed and has to be shutdown to stop it
My wife's 530S is used sporadically and goes to sleep during idle periods. It is processing fine but in the past few months it has started to suddenly wake up when no one is near it. The most annoying part is that the fan comes on at high speed (same as it does at startup) but it does not slow down. The only way to get it to quit is to hold the power button down and force the system to shutdown. It is connceted to a network with my laptop but we do not share files etc. She has McAfee total protection on the system and operates on Visa Home Premium
From other reading in this forum, I learned about updating the BIOS files. That had no effect.
Any suggestions? It seems a waste to buy a new computer because of this defect.

Disconnect it from the network. Let it go into PowerSave Mode. Does it wake up on its own?
If not, then you know something is the network is polling the PC and waking it up.
If it does wakeup, go into the Network card properties in the Device Manager and make sure its Power Management is turned off.
