Inspiron 2320, Standby-Mode

Hi,

we have bought a new Inspiron 2320. It has been delivered yesterday. Nice machine.

Our problem: The standby-mode does not work. Everytime we try to enable standby,
the computer turns off and one ot two seconds later it magically turns on again.

Except of entering some personal information we have not installed or removed any
software. It's just "out-of-the-box". We have not configured something. We just took it out
of the box, connected the included wireless keyboard via the usb-thing and turned it on.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Thank you

martin

Check the Power Management in the Control Panel on Desktop right click. also read this:

- Check in your BIOS for "wake-up-on-LAN" and similar settings.

Make sure they turned off.

- Go to Start > Control Panel > Performance & Maintenance> and select "System".

Click the "Hardware" tab and select "Device Manager".

Go to "Network Adapters" and click the "+" sign. Then right-click the item below it;

Look for your "Ethernet" device and select "Properties".

Under the "Power Management" tab, uncheck the box that says "Allow this device to take the computer out of standby" and the computer will stay in Standby mode when you put it in Standby mode.
