Inspiron 3668 - 2.5in SSD Caddy
Just got an Inspiron Desktop 3886. Looking for the 2.5in SSD caddy.
Saw some other threads about this part number, but want to make sure its the same for the 3668.
Dell Part# X9FV3
Thanks!

Hi adpwl1,
Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, I'm unable to locate that part number either to confirm that it's the correct one for your computer. It appears to be similar to the one in the manual, so it may work. http://dell.to/2obXYle;
I located a SKU number that can be ordered through Dell Spare Parts which may be helpful: A9030088

Robert, thanks. I can confirm that the part number does work in the i3668. I got the product today and it fits perfect! Only other thing you need is an additional cable to split cable for the power to the drives. You also need this as if you are just moving power, its a real tight fit as the distance from the 3.5 to the 2.5 is a few inches away and the existing power cable is made just for the 3.5 bay.

Hello I've got an I3668 on order. I have bought a SSD seperately. with a 3.5in to 2.5in mounting kit. Will I need it or is there already a 2.5in bay in the i3668. ? thanks

Can you tell me if X9FV3 is the correct part number? I also need the same caddy for the 3668. Dell says 2 weeks for delivery for the SKU number part, but I can get the X9FV3 much faster if that's the correct part.

No Idea about the 3668.
Visually it looks the same as the 3650 IMHO YMMV.
There isnt a 2nd power adapter its a Y cable splitter.

According to the online manual (www.dell.com/.../componenti-della-scheda-di-sistema, italian version, sorry) there is a second power socket: number 8 in the image.
I was planning to use that one for an SSD but I don't seem to find the correct cable. Is it a DELL proprietary cable?
Do you have any reason to believe that the second connector would not work?

I see what you mean. There is no power cable attached to connector 8.
SKU number that can be ordered through Dell Spare Parts which may be helpful: A9030088 is the caddy. S-Union New Hard Drive Optical Drive SATA Power Cable for Dell Inspiron 3650 series KC81G
https://www.amazon.com/S-Union-Drive-Optical-Power-Inspiron/dp/B01N9CV346/
Caddy: X9FV3
Motherboard SATAP2 power cable: GP2JM
This is a guess I would use a volt meter to make sure.
Perhaps ChrisM could weigh in on the validity of this.

2 = Optical Drive power 8 = Hard drive power
These are motherboard to drive cables.

Thanks a lot for the answer, very helpful!
I'm debating between the KC81G that has a dvd connector that I don't need, and the GP2JM.
In any case, thanks again.

Can anyone confirm that GP2JM is the correct cable for powering 2.5 inch drives from motherboard power (#8) indicated above?

Can the X9FV3 hold a 15mm high drive? Is there space in the chassis to install one?
