Having an ISO is a good thing.  It should be stored on an external hard drive so that you can recover years from now when the original drive dies.

Its not a matter of If they die its just a matter of when.

What is it an ISO of exactly? When I got the computer or does it update on a schedule what I currently have?

In the "old" days, Dell included a bootable Windows re-installation disk (CD or DVD) in the box for whatever version of Windows was factory installed on the system. Now Dell offers the file so you can create your own bootable DVD or USB stick containing the Win 10 installer.

So if -for example- your HDD ever fails and needs to be replaced, you'd use the bootable DVD or USB you created to install Win 10 on the new drive.

If you use your DVD or USB to clean re-install Win 10 on a HDD that already has Win 10 plus personal files and software, all Windows files will be replaced but your customized settings and personal files/software will all be lost.

You cannot change Dell's file. After you use it to install Win 10 on a new HDD or do a clean install on existing HDD, you'll have to install all the hardware drivers, and then the latest Windows updates.

Suggest you create either a DVD or USB stick now so you're prepared in case of a disaster later on.

True, but not everybody thinks about recovery media and DBaR until it's too late.

So having the OS file available for download gives you an extra layer of protection, if you ever need it...

I see a lot of different drivers. You might want to try a different web browser. I am using Chrome.

The link on the Win 10 D&D page for this model goes here.

The image provided in this download was configured to be bootable from either a DVD or USB.

NOTE: The image provided in this download is intended for clean installs of your Operating System. This is not a solution for upgrading your Operating System.

But I'm not sure what your question is...

The table below lists Dell Inspiron Desktop computers that have been tested for upgrade to Windows 10 and tested for Windows 10 November update. If your computer model is not listed, Dell is not testing the device, drivers have not been updated for that model, and Dell does not recommended an upgrade to Windows 10. If you wish to proceed with an upgrade to Windows 10 on an untested system, Microsoft provides information and support for upgrade through their upgrade website.

Here is what I see that should explain it.

I outlined in red the strange part.
