Inspiron 3847 Video Card

Just bought a Nvidia GeForce GT 705 from Dell sales, for my Inspiron 3847, which they said was compatible. Installed the card, fan runs, but Nvidia installer gives error that "This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware. Additionally, the card does not appear in Device Manager, under the Display Adapter.

Hi ,

These are the video cards which are tested to be working fine with this model,

NVIDIA® GeForce™ GT 625
NVIDIA® GeForce™ GT 635

Now if the system fails to detect the new graphic card remove the card from the system and reseate it.Then restart the system to check if it works.

If the above step fails install the old back into the system if it works fine then the connector on the system is working fine.

Hoping this helps.

Regards,

You will have to turn Secure Boot to OFF and CSM to ON for older cards to be recognized.

I have used Geforce 630 , 740 , 750, 560 etc just fine.  However higher power cards require corsair CS750M or equivalent power supply.

Thanks Jennifer,

How do you feel that the integrated Intel HD 4600 card compares to the GeForce GT 625? I didn't find a price for the 625, but the 635 is out of my price range. I not a gamer, but have purchased video cards in the past for better graphics with picture editing and use with a higher quality monitor.

Thanks

After I disable Secure Boot and enable Legacy Boot Mode. What should my boot sequence be, because the UEFI option is not available?

Thanks.

Additionally, is the GeForce GT 705 an upgrade from my integrated Intel HD 4600 card?

Isn't the geforce gt 625 for a notebook?  I am also looking for a video card for my dell inspiron 3847 and the 705 was said to be tested.  And the 635 is rare and costs 188$ at amazon for some odd reason.  I am totally confused as to the info I've been given so far.  Could u clear these things up for me?  I guess my questions are: why does the 635 cost 188$ when the later models cost less and why is the 705 said to be tested but does not work on the Original Posters computer?

Legacy GPT booting is what CSM has. There is no MBR booting with UEFI Bios with CSM.
