Inspiron 530 does not recognize two monitors

Have Inspiron 530.  Bios version 42302e31.  Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit.

Intel G33/G31 Express chipset family.  I have a splitter and can view on both , but the second is not recognized/ detected and only shows a duplicate of the 1st one.  I checked and all my drivers are up to date.  What do I need to do?

Hi Patty,

If you are using a splitter and splitting a single output into two outputs, then you would not be able to get different output on two monitors. They will only clone the display on both the monitors as they are receiving the signal from same source. And that is the reason the monitor is not being detected in system as well and are shown as a single monitor.

If you wish to see two monitors in computer as separate devices, you need to connect them to two different outputs. A video card is an ideal solution for the same.

Hope this helps.

What do I need to do?

I suggest adding a 6450-based video card. Such cards support up to three monitors and don't cost much.
