Inspiron 530 - is the Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 compatable?

Hi

Ive just upgrade my dual core processor to 2.7 ghz, but still having probems gaming with my 7600gs

Looking to upgrade to a GeForce GTX 260, but there are apparently specific psu requirements

Quote; "Needs minimum 400W or greater system power supply (with 12V current rating of 25A)"

would this card work in my machine?

Many thanks

Sorry to say your 300w  PSU will not run this card, even then your PSU will need a 6 pin power connector. You could go for the 240GT, or the 5570 HERE.

I run the GTS240 card with no problems, other than it runs a little hotter than I would like. BUT mine came with the system from Dell so they may have changed it somewhat. My system has the stock 350w PSU. Buy it from someone with a liberal return policy.

Hey ive just looked into the gt240, and apparently that needs 400w - as opposed to my 300w?

is this an error in their spec or will the card work with my pc?

Many thanks:emotion-11:

Thanks Jeff

Though i can see you have a much faster and uptodate machine (i7 etc)

Think my psu is slightly lower at 300, and with a lesser processor etc, i think its going to struggle

Think my best option is to try and source an old NVIDIA 8800 GTX (belive they are eol now), ive heard they work well with this machine - or melt my credit card and get a

new PC from Dell:emotion-7:

Its times like this i wish i still just used a playstation..... lol
