Inspiron 530 upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows7?
Can I buy a Dell Windows upgrade from Vista home to Windows 7 Home edition instead of a completely new Windows 7 license?
Thanks, HenkKK

Hi HenkKK,
Windows 7 upgrade copies are no longer available after the release of Windows 8.1. Windows Vista can be upgraded to Windows 8. You can purchase a copy of Windows 8 from the link http://dell.to/1hqU2gL and upgrade to Windows 8 from Windows Vista.

Upgrades must be 32 bit to 32 bit or 64 bit to 64 bit. There are no cross upgrades from 32 to 64 or 64 to 32.
Any Upgrade to 7 or 8 requires vista SP1 then reboot then Vista SP2 then reboot.
I do not recommend express upgrades to the service packs but rather full 300 meg downloads of the Full service pack. Then IE8 and IE9 and all the updates.
THEN upgrade to 7 or 8
8.1 is not an option as an upgrade for vista.

You can buy a full license for the price of an upgrade. Newegg often offers them on sale for $85 postpaid (regular price is $99); you also have the option of downloading the install ISO from Digital River, burning your own disk and buying a license online directly from Microsoft.
