I'm looking to upgrade the graphics card in my Inspiron 545 and have been gifted an Nvidia GEforce GT610, I believe I may have to upgrade the PSU to handle the card. Is this correct and if so what should I be looking for?

I've never upgraded anything apart from an optical drive before so please excuse my ignorance. Thanks

The Nvidia Geforce GT610 minimum power supply requirement is 300w which is what you have installed. Before buying a power supply, I would simply install the Nvidia Geforce GT610, connect the monitor to it, then power on the computer. See if it works. If it does not, we can then look for a power supply.

No joy unfortunately. After installing the card and the drivers from the CD, the computer starts up and lets me log in to windows before the monitor goes into standby.
