Inspiron 570

I see that Dell released several different CPU's in the 570 over the years. Is there an updated list?

You should have mentioned 580 right away - it will work for you.

Regarding CPU - if you end up buying from eBay, I would strongly suggest to consider Phenom II x4 945 or 955, since both of them are 95 watt and they are the strongest from the list I provided. Don't be confused by now available in stores 960 models, they have turbo boost, which is not supported by Dell MOBO, and I would not consider them compatible (other reasons as well, long conversation). After all, I am the first one to choose 965 model and I did a lot of homework trying to see if newer processors would have a chance, I come to conclusions that - no way.

Hi GLENN-HO,

I believe you are referring to the processor. Here is the list of the processors tested with Inspiron 570.

This system is shipped with two types of heat sinks: 65W and 95W. If you are planning to upgrade the CPU, you may have to upgrade the heat sink and the fan.

Please reply if you have any questions.

This list is old as I have seen several other processors released by Dell. Don't u have a updated list?

What is the dell part number for the heat sink and fan for a 95w processor?

@Dell Appu S: please stop providing AM2 processors, the list you provided is for earlier AMD Inspirons, Inspiron 570 has AM3 processors, if you cannot get Crhis's list, at least do not look incompetent.

@Glenn-HO:

Do you want the full list (I need time to find it) or the fastest processors, which can be placed into Inspiron 570, I have the fastest one now (my signature), which is Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition 3.4 GHz, which can be overclocked, with good cooling upgrades, to 4.0 GHz more or less safe, and above, not so safe.

Phenom II X4 965 BE could be still purchased new at Amazon $94.99, Newegg $94.99 and TigerDirect $74.96 (no CPU cooler included, but it is not efficient anyway), Phenom II X4 955 and 945 have a bit less power 3.2 GHz and 3.0 GHz respectably and therefore require easier cooling upgrade, however those 2 available only on eBay, I tried to find them new recently and I could not.

Any questions please ask, as I am the only one left here to help users like you.

Motherboard is a 4GJJT so i know it needs a AM3 processor. No games are played on it since it my wife's. Just want to speed things up with no modification to the cooling. Just bought 8gb ram.

In this case this is the list, left side are Dell part numbers

27VM5 AMD Athlon X4 640 3.00
8KDMP AMD Athlon X4 635 2.90
V2PYH AMD Athlon X4 630 2.80
2PJ3W AMD Athlon X4 630 2.80
Y9H55 AMD Athlon X4 620 2.60

DMC67 AMD Athlon X3 425 2.70

77XN0 AMD Athlon X2 255 3.10
F9GN5 AMD Phenom X2 550 3.10
40X63 AMD Phenom X2 545 3.00
F5HVR AMD Athlon X2 250 3.00
GJ44V AMD Athlon X2 245 2.90
MVXJ0 AMD Athlon X2 245 2.90
M6XFK AMD Athlon X2 240 2.80
91D21 AMD Athlon X2 215 2.70

DH25P AMD Phenom 945 3.00
5H0HC AMD Phenom 945 3.00
RWPT3 AMD Athlon 435 2.90
7GN6M AMD Athlon 435 2.90
YYT2W AMD Phenom 830 2.80
MNV5C AMD Phenom 925 2.80
M1HV1 AMD Phenom 820 2.80
2VGGH AMD Phenom 720 2.80
FPFRX AMD Phenom 180 2.40

XY10C AMD Sempron 140 2.70

Also can be added as stated previously Phenom II x4 955 and 965 BE, those 2 were tested by users, the list is tested by Dell engineers.

Regarding cooling. Use this list to check TDP - wattage of the processors - this is necessary to look for the coolers.

You did not say which processor you have now, so I don't know which fan you have now.

According to Dell-Chris M those are only 2 coolers found in Inspiron 570

C957N Heatsink & Fan Assembly for 65W CPUs

C955N Heatsink & Fan Assembly for 95W CPUs

I hope I answered your questions. Phenom II X4 965 BE requires completely different cooler and a lot of work.

thanks i just checked and i have the OC957N fan & heat sink. So I am going to buy a C955N and look at your list to see what I can find. I bought 4 - Samsung  2GB 2RX8 PC3-10600U-09-10-B0 MEMORY. Any problem with that memory?

I have difficulty finding you RAM info, since you did not provided part number - long string starting with letter M. Since you already have it I would simply exchange you existing RAM sticks with new ones and see if PC boots, if yes install the rest, if not - you know the answer. Next time ask about part prior to buying them if not sure.

Ram removed from friends inspiron 580 so I am guessing it should work.   Got the ram for a almost nothing. Samsung part # is  M378B5673EH1-CH9. I cannot try the ram right now as I have 570 torn down. Processor removed. I am also replacing the HD since it failed the smart test. I am also going replace vista with windows 7.

Thanks for the advice. Those two the 945 & 955 are what i am looking at. Looks like e-bay is the only way to go. Just don't like buying a used CPU.

Emergency update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:emotion-60:

I just located seller of most likely new parts and Phenom II x4 945 3.0 GHz is listed there for reasonable $117, it is worth checking up, located in California (actually not that far from me, LOL), considering that this CPU will require easy cooling upgrade, it is a good choice.

Do you think the B93 which is the same as the Phenom II x4 925 work? It is an OEM and is $70.00 inc shipping.

WOW good find all the 945's I have seen are the 125w versions.
