Inspiron 620, Poor Quality Sound

I have a Dell Inspiron 620 desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium.  I have  Logitech LS21 (S-00040) speakers (L, R, and subwoofer). Up until last week the sound quality was fine.  Now I am getting low quality, somewhat garbled sound no matter what I play:  Pandora, CNN, music web sites.  I swapped out the speakers.  I tinkered with the Control Panel/Sound configuration settings.  I uninstalled/reinstalled the sound cards. I updated the sound card drivers, I plugged the speakers into the front and the back audio receptacle.  All to no avail.  DO I likely have a hardware issue? Any Suggestions would be most appreciated.

* Download and install this Chipset driver
* Restart the Inspiron 620 when done
* Download and install this Audio driver
* Restart the Inspiron 620 when done

Do you have the added PCIe x1 Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme sound card or are you using the onboard Conexant CX20641/CX20651 sound?

When I open Device Manager (in Control Panel), under Sound is see listed : Conexant HD audio and Intel R display audio.

Does that answer your question, or if not, you will need to give me a little guidance as to where to look.

Thx,

Mike

Thx Chris, that worked.  Any idea how the sound got "broken" on the first place...?

Perhaps windows auto updated installed a driver that messed it up.
