Inspiron 660 "locked up" loading Windows 10 (error code Oxc000000f) from Windows 7
We inadvertently stopped our unsolicited Windows 10 upgrade of Windows 7 which caused the computer to show a Windows Error Recovery page with choice of "launch startup repair" or "start normally".
Either option got us to a Windows Boot Manager page that stated to insert WIndows installation disk (which came with our Dell computer) and restart computer. The disk does not run and gives a
status: 0xc000000f
info: boot selection failed because required device inaccessible
How do we get past these messages to reload Windows 7 ?? (and don't want Windows 10)

You are entirely hozed. You need to reformat drive and reinstall from scratch.
Windows Boot Manager
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software chance miht be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings and click "Next."
3. Click "repair your computer."#

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

Thanks for the comment. Assuming that there is no way to recover the current hard drive and I can't get past the Windows Boot Manager page (and selecting F8 during start-up did not help), how do I get to a point where I can reinstall the original Windows 7 disc ?

Windows 10 is like DOS in that Older versions of windows CANNOT REMOVE the partition to wipe the drive. So you need dban or some other utility or to use a brand spanking new drive to reinstall.
Windows 7 also has issues with Advanced format aka larger than 120 gig drives from 2011 and up.
So unless you have F6 INTEL RST Drivers at least version 9.6 or better you will fail to install.
Intel RST replaces Intel Matrix Storage Manager. HOWEVER you cannot update to your hearts content from version 7 to 8 to 9 to 10 to 11 to 12 to 13 to 14 etc. As the drivers and chipsets get newer the older ICH5 6 7 8 9 etc are dropped from support.

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) version 9.6 and newer supports 4k sector disks if the device supports 512 byte emulation (512e). Intel® RST does not support 4k native sector size devices.
What happens if I try to use an older version of the driver?
If you try to install the operating system on a 512e disk with a driver older than Intel® RST version 9.6, the install process might not complete. This driver is not validated with your XPS and may not work at all. There will be ZERO support for this if its not working. INSTALLING THIS DRIVER if its not working can lead to 100 percent loss of all data. Do so at your own RISK. Installing a version Higher than the supported chipset does the same thing. All Raid Data lost restart from zero.
