Installing RAM & Hard Drive in XPS 8700 on Win 8.1

I just purchased a new XPS 8700 with Windows 8.1 which came configured with 8 GB of RAM & a single 1 TB Sata3 Hard drive. I just purchased 2 x 4 GB sticks of RAM from Dell & a 2nd 1 TB SATA3 hard drive. I know how to physically install the hardware as I did it on previous older systems however I need to know what needs to be done in the BIOS if anything to recognize the new devices. If you can provide me with instructions on how to do my upgrades it would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you

There is almost nothing you need to do in the BIOS for recognition of the new hardware. The BIOS does it all automatically. You probably have UEFI BIOS, so you will to need to disable Safe Boot in UEFI for the hardware and OS installation.

Hi Thanks for that. However, I am not sure where in the BIOS I go in order to disable Safe Boot in UEFI in order for the hardware and OS installation to detect the new hardware. Can you provide either instructions or screenshots to help me out? Thank you. Andrew

It is called Secure Boot, not safe boot and it is on the Boot tab/page.
