Is the Corsair 2X2GB memory compatible with the Dell memory in my Inspiron 530s

Hello,

I want to upgrade RAM in my Dell Inspiron 530s.

Is the Corsair Twin2X4096-6400C5 compatible with Dell memory?

Currently installed: total 4X1GB

2X1GB Nanya Tecnology

Speed: 400 MHz (DDR2 800)

Memory Timings: 6-6-6-18-24 at 400MHz, at 1.8 volts

2X1GB Hyundai Electronics

Speed: 400 MHz (DDR2 800)

Memory Timings: 6-6-6-18-24 at 400MHz, at 1.8 volts

The RAM limit for my computer is 8GB, with a 64bit OS.

The Twin2X4096-6400C5 is the Dell recommended memory for my computer, from the Dell website.

I want to replace one set of the 2X1GB with the Twin2X4096-6400C5, which will give me 6GB RAM.

The Twin2X4096-6400C5 timings and voltages: CL5 ( 5-5-5-18 ), Supply Voltage 1.9 V.

Is the different timings and voltages going to cause any problems for me?

Thanks for any help or opinions,

Re: Is the Corsair 2X2GB memory compatible with the Dell memory in my Inspiron 530s

I know that it is recommended to match RAM exactly.

The Corsair Twin2X4096-6400C5 is recommended by Dell for my computer.

I would like to ask if anyone might hazard a guess if there is a chance this might work, or is it a definite no. If I take a chance and it doesn't play nicely with the other 2GB, I will have 4GB of spare sticks, which is acceptable.

BTW, this is a Dell gift certificate and I can't think of anything else I want right now, besides a new muscle computer and the gift certificate won't cover that.

Any reply with a guess or suggestion will be appreciated,

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks for the reply.

I'm hoping it will work, understand the risk, thought I would check for some general opinions.

Or if I am lucky, someone that mixed Corsair with Dell factory RAM.

Regards,

Dave
