Istalling OS question

Hello all. I have a question. About 3 mos ago I purchased a 500GB SATA 3Gb s Hard Drive 16MB 7200 RPM from for my dimension 520. My old hd died and i had no back up. I have tried to Install windows xp quite a few times the first time windows did install but a few weeks later I got a message saying windows was corupt and I had to repair. So I tried to do a clean install and installation would freeze and would not continue. That's where I'm at now stuck. I dont know what to do next and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ray

Usually if Windows is choking on the install it's either a bad Windows disc or a bad hard drive. I know your drive is new but I've seen hard drive fail after only a few days out of the box. They seem to be pretty finicky creatures.

See if the manufacturer (Seagate, Western Digital, etc) will RMA the drive for you & try again.
