Just bought xps 435T. BIOS or WinVista information is wrong

Hi

did anyone experienced the following.

I looked at the bios and it shows that there is 8GB of ram on the system.

I looked at Vista Welcome Center and it shows 12GB of ram.

What information is correct? The BIOS version is A09.

The second question.

I was planing to install Vista Ultimate 64 bit and I thought that before I do it I would connect my eSATA drive.

I can not connect eSata drive in BIOS it says that eSata is not detected.

I looked at all the drivers they are uptodate.

What should I do to make eSata working?

Thanks

ivanyshka7,

How much ram did you purchase? Vista should be up and running, then, connect and power on the esata drive. Vista should pick it up.

By the way when I did it in order that you suggested Vista hanged. I had to disconnect external Sata in order to get mouse moving and keyboard working.

I think I will have to ask for replacement.

Hi Chris,

unfortunatelly it does not. Dell tech support even downgraded the BIOS from A09 to A07. Did not help.

In BIOS it says that eSata is not detected. No metter how I plug it and in what order.

Regarding the memory. I ordered 12GB of RAM but in the BIOS it shows 8GB.

When I look in Vista System information it shows 12GB.

Thanks
