Motherboard replacement Inspiron 3847

I had a problem while updating the bios and the ac power quit. I have tried resetting by removing the CMOS to no avail.

Would I be able to replace the motherboard which is a Great Bear 13040-1? . Is it a 88DT1?

Yes, the motherboard can be replaced, but you will need to install another Dell OEM Inspiron 3847 88DT1 motherboard.

If you have an active warranty in effect, contact Dell's Technical Support.

Thank you for the response. It was exactly the information I sought.

It is my understanding that the OS key is imbedded in the bios. How do I reset the code?

I do have a warranty but would it cover the motherboard replacement due to a-c power failure?
