Welcome to the forums emoticon.Yes.title
Have you also tried ejecting the drive tray, by right-clicking on the drive in My Computer, and selecting 'Eject' from the pop-up menu?
If that doesn't work either, it's possible (/likely?) the drive is faulty, and will need replacing emoticon.Sad.title
If it does need replacing, new optical drives aren't particularly expensive. $25 - $30 will get you a good 24x model (LG, Samsung, Liteon, Sony etc).
Just make sure you buy the right type of drive emoticon.Idea.title
I don't know how old the Dimension C521 actually is - but I say that, because you *might* need an IDE drive, rather than a SATA model?
You can find out for sure, by checking the model name in Device Manager? The drive in my laptop for instance, ends with "ATA Device" (after the numbers), which tells me it's an IDE drive.
I suspect a SATA drive will say "SATA device", but if you're still not sure - a quick Google of the model number will confirm it emoticon.Wink.title
