Need to install a HGST 4tb Nas in my second hand Preceision t7500
Ok, I need to install a HGST 4tb Nashard drive in my second hand Preceision t7500.
It will be used as a data drive.
I am running win7 pro and have a Dell SAS 6/ir Integrated Workstation Controller.
Things I have tried:
1. Initializing the drive as a GPT drive then adding a "simple volume"...still maxed out at 2tb.
2. Doing a dos "clean" and trying #1 again.
Do i need a PERC Card to get this system to recognize all 4tb af space?
Thanks!

HGST Deskstar NAS 3.5-Inch 4TB 7200RPM SATA III 64MB Cache
This is not a dell product and not supported here.
A 64 bit os is required for booting.
The DELL SAS 6/ir does not support drives larger than 2TB.
Onboard intel ICH requires INTEL RST Drivers higher than 10.1 and 64 bit OS to support drives larger than 2TB.
Western Digital Handles this with a PCI-E Host Adapter HighPoint Rocket 620 card.

Thank You for reply!
Is there any advantages to buy a " PERC 6/i PCI-e RAID adapter" instead of buying the "PCI-E Host Adapter HighPoint Rocket 620 card"
Thanks for your help!

A PERC 6/i PCI-e RAID will be significantly more expensive and I do not know that it supports single drives larger than 2TB.
If you want more raid features then get a Rocket Raid 620 instead of the basic 620 card.
