New graphics card and bios upgrade
Please forgive my lack of knowlledge. I have a Dimension 8200 with XP Pro and the bios is A05.
I need to install an new graphics card (fan is making all sorts of racket). I have read that I need to upgrade my bios to do this properly. I have also read that I can run into all sorts of problems if I upgrade the bios and I would not be able to deal with that.
Do I need to upgrade my bios, and if so is there a failsafe way to do it for a newbee such as myself?
If I do upgrade the bios will I have problems with other programs and equipment that are inevitable?
Please help if you can as I am confused. Any help will be greatly appreciated

It shouldn't be necessary for you to upgrade the BIOS to install a new graphics card, though that would depend on the card.
There is no failsafe method for upgrading the BIOS, there is always a small risk of something going wrong, that is why as a general rule it is recommended that if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
