No Internet After New Hard Disk & Windows 7 Clean Reinstall
I own a Dell Studio XPS 9100 that I bought in 2011.
The Seagate Barracuda SATA 1TB hard drive died, and I replaced it with a Seagate Barracuda 2TB drive. The Windows 7 re-install went ok, but I couldn't connect to the net.
Ran device driver, and got errors on the network adapter and RAID.
I went to the Dell site for the 9100 and installed the drivers for the adapter and RAID.
No luck. I still get the "no adapter" error along with the "no cable connected" error.
I have read a lot of the messages on this problem and am stymied.
Does anyone have any idea how I can solve this once and for all and get on the internet?

Note make sure all the Dell Drivers extract and install and not only extract. If they extract only you will need to manually launch the setup.exe from the extracted folder.

Try upgrading the Realtek driver manually. See here:

As location select C:\dell\drivers\R266204
Provide hardware IDs for the devices with question marks:

I am now connected to the internet without the USB wifi device!
However, the Realtek adapter is not the one that is connecting me. I am still getting errors on Device Manager:
Any idea how I can clear the Yellow question marks?

Did that - the driver is current. This is the error I am getting:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

Got it. Uninstaller the device then scanned for hardware changes. The driver re- installed correctly.

Great :) Thanks for letting us know that worked. The issue might have been it was initially installed without the chipset driver being first applied.

I do now have one new problem.
It is rebooting over and over, lIke it is in a loop.
It reboots, then does it again before windows finishes starting.
Then it shuts down.
When I restart, it goes into repair mode. I have to wait until it stops, then it starts windows properly, but says the computer recovered from a serious error.
What has happened, and how do I fix this?

It came back normal except I got a message that no diagnostic utility partition was found.
It is still doing the reboot.

Okay but the HDD and memory passed the standard tests?
You never changed any BIOS settings such as SATA operation?
