Optiplex 3040 - NIC getting disabled in BIOS on restart

All, we have a lot of 150 computers of Dell 3040 and we recently started having issue with them. Their NIC gets disabled on restart. Then we have to goto BIOS and enable the NIC.

This is the same issue reported with Optiplex 5040.

Can someone please share your thoughts on this.

RE: Optiplex 3040 - NIC getting disabled in BIOS on restart

It is telling that on the 5040 thread, setting a BIOS password resolved the issue. I would first take 3 or 4 systems off of the network by physically disconnecting them from the network. Power them off, then on, check the bios NIC setting. Then restart, check the bios NIC setting. if the setting stays the same, then we know something on your network is pushing that change.

RE: Optiplex 3040 - NIC getting disabled in BIOS on restart

Hi, I had same issues with some 3040, the nic was disabled after reboot or deep sleep !

And I discovered that each time the users had plugged earphones on the front jack !

Could you test yourside an resolve this issue ?

Thank you.
