Is a compact flash card reader available or some kind of device/adapter able to read/write to these cards?

Lots of USB card readers available that can read/write a variety of card formats, eg SD, XD, MicroSD etc. Google for them. www.google.com/
Look for one that supports the kind of card(s) you use. If your system has USB3 ports, look for a USB3 card reader to take advantage of the faster speed of USB3. Otherwise, get a USB2 reader, which might be less expensive (but slower).
