PC won't finish booting
Hello,
My name is Scott and I'm having an issue with my desktop. The PC is a few yours old, it sas the mfg.date is 12/22/2010. I bought it as soon as the I7 Core was released.
It says it's a Dell XPS CORE i7
My issue is, the PC came with OS Windows 7.
I was offered a free full upgrade to Windows 10 and I completed that. The PC ran fine after upgrade but I wanted to do a clean slate so I did a recovery through the windows 10 options and I chose to just delete all files and start fresh.
All seemed to go well but now the PC boots to just a blank black screen but I have mouse usage but that's it.
Almost like it won't boot into windows 10.
Any help please as its a pain to type all this on my phone...lol
I'm not sure what other info I can give you because the PC won't boot in so I can get it.
I haven't done any external upgrades, so everything is factory hardware.

A clean install is not a win 10 recovery. You should have downloaded the Create Media utility and made a boot disk for windows 10 and done a clean install by booting to the dvd after checking to see if windows 10 was activated. You will most likely have to reinstall windows 7 and do the upgrade again--unless you have your activation key for windows 7 that you can enter when requested when doing a clean install with the dvd you made. Research this at MS Windows 10 site. Also look up the steps for a clean install.
Your model computer is important. It is most likely an XPS 8300 or 8500. Look at the back of the tower for the service tag. Don't post that in the forum since it is not allowed, but go to Dell Support and enter it there to find out the model name.
