PSU for XPS 435MT

I need to put in a new PSU in my XPS 435MT.  Having some difficulty finding one that will work.  I picked up an Antec Basiq 500W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371004 ) but the connectors don't seem to match up.  The main connector isnt a 24-pin, its a 20+4 pin and the P2 connector for the mobo are two 4-pin connectors instead of one 8-pin connector.  Worried I will screw that up and fry my mobo.

I have seen people post links to PSU's that should work, but the fan is on the top, not the rear, so I am really confused.  Example (http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplies/650W+or+less/550W+OCZ+ZS+Series+80PLUS+Bronze+Power+Supply+?productId=45457 )

I would like to get a PSU that is 500W and has the correct connectors.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The 20+4-pin power is standard for a 24-pin connector, it's made to be adapted to used for motherboards, with either a 20-pin, or a 24-pin, P1 main motherboard power connector.

The Antec Basiq BP500U 500W Continuous Power ATX12V Version 2.01 Active PFC Power Supply, is not compatible with the XPS 435TM

The XPS 435MT supports most generic standard ATX power supply units, with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power and a EPS/ATX12V 8-pin connector, with or without the on/off switch.

You should be able to buy a compatible power supply from either a local or online computer store.

Note: You require a power supply with four SATA power connectors.

Is a 1 x 4+4-Pin ATX/EPS 12V  connector compatible with the 8-pin?  It seems most of the power supplies have the 4+4 instead.

I guess I am confused then as to why the Antec Basiq isn't compatible with the 435MT.  I am a complete noob with this stuff.  Thanks for bearing with my stupid questions.  BTW, the Antec ps I bought is the Basiq 500W ATX12V v2.3 if that makes a difference.

The BASIQ 500W does not have enough power.  Dell power supplies work better than their rating.

Get an ANTEC HCG 650W power supply and it will work fine IF that is the only issue.

You are correct, it would seem that Newegg, listed the wrong details and specifications for the Antec Basiq BP500U on their site.

If you check under Newegg's 'Details'  section for the power supply, you will notice, the PSU only has two SATA power connectors, the XPS 435MT requires four.

Also, it does not list a EPS/ATX12v 8-pin connector, the Antec Basiq PSU only lists a 4-pin 12v P4 connector, this alone will make not compatible with the XPS 435MT.

The Antec has 4 SATA power connectors and two 4-pin 12v P4 connectors that are to be mated together to plug into the 8-pin slot on the MoBo.  Maybe the Newegg details aren't accurate.  The Antec site has the correct configuration listed.

I would be fine with going to the 650W version as well.
