I have installed a new Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card in my Precision T3500 into the first PCIe x16 slot and was not able to install the drivers: the screen would go blank and the computer would just freeze in the middle of installation.
That same graphics card works just fine in the second PCIe x16 slot with all the latest drivers installed and even with some overclocking of GPU memory.
When I moved the graphics card to the first PCIe x16 slot after the successfull installation of the driver, the computer would not boot and would just start beeping. When I moved the graphics card back to the second PCIe x16 slot it worked just fine.
Why would the graphics card work fine on the second PCIe x16 slot, but not on the first PCIe x16 slot?What is the difference between these two PCIe x16 slots in Precision T3500?
P.S. To illustrate this: when I say first PCIe x16 slot I mean the blue one, and the second PCIe x16 slot is the black one.
Both slots should work the same so it sounds like one of them is faulty. Do all the pins on the connector look perfectly aligned?

I had AMD Radeon R7 200 graphics card in the blue PCIe x16 slot working fine just before I upgraded to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti.
When I upgraded to Windows 10 over a year ago I had trouble with Windows 10 auto-updating the driver resulting in a blank screen and frozen computer in the middle of installation, but the AMD card was working fine with one of the older drivers and I never tried the AMD card in the second (black) PCIe x16 slot.
It is possible that Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti will work fine in the blue slot with an older driver too, but I prefer the latest driver.
I know that some manufacturers make the blue PCIe x16 slot different than the other PCIe x16 slot and I found out that the motherboard is Dell P/N 9KPNV, but I could not find a manual for this motherboard to check the differences.
I will check the pins in the blue slot when I have a chance.
P.S. Now I recall that I had problems updating to the latest driver on Windows 7 x64 when I had factory installed Nvidia Quadro FX card in the blue slot, and this makes me think that something is different with that blue slot.
After further investigation it looks like the blue slot is the "primary" PCIe slot and the black is "secondary"
I'll have a look into why it only works in one and not the other

I thought that certain settings for "primary" blue PCIe X16 slot might be hardcoded in BIOS to use that slot with supported by Dell graphics cards, and that could make this slot incompatible with the card I am trying to use.
That's why I was looking for the manual guide of Dell P/N 9KPNV motherboard, but could not find it.
I saw a youtube video where they used Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 in the blue slot on T3500 though.
I need the manual for the Dell 9KPNV motherboard also to find out if I can upgrade the Intel Xeon W3530 to X5570 or something better on my Precision T3500.
It does seem to be a fault with the slot, can you check a different card in it to see if it posts or not? The most information I can get you on the motherboard is contained within the service manual:

Yes, I found the technical guide for Precision T3500 and see that X5570 is supported, but at this link they list X5690 as supported too, and it seems to be much better CPU than X5570:
Yes, the X5690 is listed as compatible too (it must have been added after publication of the spec sheet)
The T3400 and T3500 supports AMD CROSSFIRE but it DOES NOT SUPPORT Nvidia SLI. You cant have AMD Card and NVIDIA Card in the slots at the same time. This is not supported. Some Newer cards REQUIRE UEFI system bios and so this may also be an issue.
