Precision T3500 with NVidia Quadro FX580 issues on Windows 7 and Windows 10 upgrade

The FX580 is a DX9  WDDM 1.0 card.

I have 2006 and 2005 E510's that have been upgraded with Pentium D 915 and 4 gigs of ram and they work Fine with windows 10 once you get at least a Geforce 610  or Radeon HD 5450 or better DX11 wddm 1.3 card.  

The FX580 is an ancient vacccum tube card that is not suitable for AERO or Windows 7,8,10

It works with the original WDDM 1.0 Vista Drivers but it will not have WDDM 1.1 or 1.3 drivers.

Nvidia Quadro FX580 is DX10, Shader model 4.0 card according to specs, it has two DisplayPorts and one dual link DVI-I port, and I am currently using Aero with a three years old driver for Windows 7 64bit recommended and available for download from Dell.

Nvidia has Windows 10 driver for this card as well, which means that this card is supposed to work with Windows 10 just fine, but it freezes my Precision T3500 after reboot.

Any other suggestions, that will not require hardware upgrades?

The computer hangs during 341.61 installation with the blank screen.

You have to use 340 or earlier drivers for DX10 cards.

NVIDIA has announced that its “legacy” products will no longer be supported by its drivers. The Release 340 drivers will be the last ones to bring optimizations for them.

After that, NVIDIA will move all Direct3D 10 graphics processing units (GPUs) to legacy status, leaving only Fermi, Kepler and Maxwell cards supported

NVIDIA  published the entire list of devices moving to legacy status, and we have everything: GeForce, Quadro and Tesla.

The GeForce 88000GTX, a fairly popular adapter even now, is among them, as is the GeForce 405. The Tesla 1000 line is mentioned as well, along with the Quadro FX collection and the Tesla C, Quadro Plex and NVS notebook platform. That last one includes both NVIDIA NVS and NVIDIA Quadro NVS.

All in all, over one hundred products have been cut off from the driver base, and it's not really that shocking. Although it does pose the question of whether or not game makers will support legacy D3D10 products from now on.

I don't understand then why Microsoft pushes the latest Nvidia driver via automatic updates in Windows 10. Should not Dell and/or Nvidia talk to Microsoft about that?

Why Windows 10 does not work with my current Windows 7 drivers?

They push the new so that you MUST use Newer hardware.

The older DX9 and DX10 hardware is End of Life End of Support for ATI and Nvidia.

Dell is not going to work with microsoft to support windows 10 on 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 hardware.

Hi varmatev, I have a T3500 with the FX580, running W7 pro (dvi to vga) and I'm having similar issue, black screen flash. It is very annoying. I have tried different drivers, all to no avail.  I have just now swapped HDD with one running linux mint to prove there is no fault with the card, screen or cable. It has been running fine for over 2 hours. So this would prove an incompatibility with Nvidia drivers and W7

Have you managed to sort a driver that works for you on W7, and if so would you share.

WDDM 1.0 drivers are VISTA not windows 7 Drivers.

You can also use the corresponding Video driver at http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/precision-t3500/drivers

Dell also offers the nVIDIA Security Patch Utility there but I have not tried that.

So, I replaced Nvidia FX 580 with AMD Radeon R7 240, installed the driver that came on a CD with the card and it worked fine on Windows 7 x64.

I attempted update to Windows 10 that went well, and I successfully installed the corresponding driver from the same CD and was getting ready to celebrate Windows 10, when the system suddenly froze...

Apparently Windows 10 is auto-updating the AMD driver, like it was auto-updating Nvidia driver and brakes the system...

I tried all the options in the article below and only the last option (registry setting modification) helped to stop driver autoupdate by windows update service.
