Problems with Adaptec USB2Connect high-speed 6-port 2.0 card

Today I installed a new Adaptec USB2Connect 6-port USB 2.0 card into my Dell Dimension 8200 running Win XP Professional. I then installed a Belkin 7 port hub - only to find out after installing that it's not compatible with Adaptec's card.

When ever I plug a unit into the new card, I get a message that the system recovered from a severe problem. Then sometimes it shuts down by itself. I'm just wondering if Adaptec's cards just don't work with WinXP and maybe I should use a different brand.

My BIOS is A03 - could that be a problem?

Is there another card that's better?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Try moving the card to a different PCI slot - and DO NOT use the one immediately adjacent to the video card.

If moving to another slot does not help, let me suggest you try to narrow the problem to either the Adaptec card or the peripheral device. Try connecting other devices to the card. If they work, then the problem may be the peripheral device.
