I have a Dell Optiplex GX520 (Refurbished) computer. Now.....I can't get it to boot to Windows.
I do have the restore disk, but the restore doesn't get me there anymore. I hate the idea of
just scrapping the computer. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I might do? Also.....
I have a Compaq Presario that could use a faster processor. Would the processor from the
Dell be compatible with the Presario? If it was, I wouldn't feel as tho the Dell died for no good
reason. Thanks, Carl
I have an x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 0 AuthenticAMD ~ 1665 Mhz processor in the Compaq Presario S3000NX, I know it's old, but I'd rather keep it and make some revisions than buya new one, quite honestly. What might be the specific upgrade for this particular processor?
You can try clean-installing Windows 7 using a disc burned from a downloaded ISO. If Windows 7 boots and all is well, you can activate with the key of an OEM copy obtained from a reputable e-tailer like Newegg, or upgrade to Windows 8, which is on special for $40 straight from Microsoft.
The Presario is an AMD machine and thus incompatible with the Pentium 4 in the GX520.
