Replacement Harness for Precision T3500 PSU

I would like to replace my PSU's wiring harness with one from a Alienware Area 51 ALX.  I was told they may match.  I need the 2nd 6-pin PCIe connector.  The workstation's PSU only has one.

What about a simple SATA (or Molex) to 6-pin PCI Express Power Cable ?

Or even a Molex to two 6-pin connectors.

All depends on type of PSU you have and the connectors that are available..

I would do the Molex to 6-pin if I don't find the replacement harness.  The SATA power connectors don't have the current carrying capacity for driving heavy loads like gfx cards, tho.  I read somewhere that each pin is only good for 1.5A.

Plus, my existing harness only has one free Molex connector.  But I'd use it if I had to.

Thanks.

Well, if you should need another Molex connector in the future, you can always use a Molex splitter on one of them to give you two.

I suspect only Dell is going to know if you can swap the harness from some other model into this one...

They DO NOT MATCH.  They look similar but they ARE NOT THE SAME.  This is also why they have started labeling the cables to only work with specific part numbers.
