Thanks for the detailed directions/photos. A quick question: Is this a work-around to adding a 2.5 drive to a 3650 with a 3.5 drive already installed? Even tho Dell says only one 3.5  or   two 2.5's ?

The Inspiron 3650 will support both a 1 x 3.5" HD, together with a 2.5" HD.

The Inspiron will support as many drives as u can fit into it ! As for the comment about the psu being a discreet unit and the motherboard doesn't have any effect is completely WRONG. The dell supplied psu is not like a standard psu or aftermarket psu it's cabling is basically the 4 pin CPU power and I believe it's an 8 pin motherboard power connection the drives are powered by the two mini 4 pin sata power connections on the board if you buy a couple Y type splitters you can technically connect up to 5 drives 4 total ssd/hdd and of course the slim optical disk drive neither the motherboard nor the chipset determine how many drives u can have they will all show up in the BIOS regardless heck you could buy a 3rd party raid controller and put that in the pcie slot and you could add as many as you want I currently have 3 ssd 1 hdd and removed the ODD so I could utilize the 5.25 in bay it was wasting and decided having additional storage was more important then having an internal disk drive I just use my external ODD if I need to use one
