Is there a processor upgrade available for my machine?  I have 12gb of ram which is more than enough for most processes but I have a project from work that requires more processors

The following processors are compatible with Dell Studio XPS 435t/9000:

Intel Core i7 920
Intel Core i7 940
Intel Core i7-960
Intel Core i7 965
Intel Core i7-975

Prior to installing the processor, check that you have BIOS version A16 installed, when support for Intel processors was added.

Also, the following discussion has useful information about upgrading the Dell Studio XPS 435t/9000 processor:

Due to it's LGA 1366 processor socket you have lots of CPU options, since that socket also supports Intel Xeon processors (and Dell added some Intel Gulftown CPU support in the BIOS).  Xeons are comparatively less expensive on ebay, for example.  Some CPUs may not have been tested by Dell, but they work.
