Studio XPS 9100 Realtek HD Left-Right Audio Bleeding

I have some test files that alternate 100% left and 100% right audio tones, but when playing those back through the speakers or headphones, you can clearly hear the audio in BOTH ears, though reduced in the speaker that's not supposed to have ANY sound. It's almost as if someone just panned the audio 3/4 left or right instead of all the way.
Playback of music, playback of the test files via Windows Media, Real Audio and iTunes all give the same not-quite-discreet result.
I'm recording with Adobe Audition 3.0. When recording the files as they're playing (thru, say, WMC) you can clearly see from the waveform that there's still plenty of audio on the channel where it's supposed to be empty.
By the way, the sound card is set up for "stereo" not any form of surround. All "enhancements" are off. I have the latest drivers. Everything is correctly plugged in. Computer is direct from Dell. No added sound cards.

Well, that was why I made the test track I attached. It's alternating tones.. 100% right for 8 seconds and then 100% left. Played through any of the computer's media players the bleed exists. Played on, say, an MP3 player and the test track is quite discreet left, then right.
Recording from "what you hear" or "stereo mix" in realtek's case renders a file that clearly shows the bleed. I think I attached 'em both above.
Haven't tried an external input, yet. Will get to that one in the morning

Can you test by only inputting left channel and then right channel to see what is happening, and make sure the source is only outputting on one channel only. This is a new problem, that I haven't seen and I've been on this forum since 2002 and do part-time PC support, plus I run a computer based recording studio (I use Sonar).
Have you tried a different cable between your source and the PC's "Line In". Make sure it's an "audio" cable and NOT a speaker cable which is not shielded. Also don't overload the input (e.g. don't use a "speaker" output from a device as that can overload the input and even damage the input if it's too loud). The PC's Line In is approx -4DB input (nearly line level).
The Stereo Mix should not make any difference, all that is doing is taking whatever input.

Feeding the test tone file via external player into the Line In port results in a recording that has no bleed.
Any ideas? Does this rule out hardware?
The whole idea behind the new computer was to be able to do audio work at home (I'm in broadcasting). Useless if there's going to be a 30% bleed between channels.

Anyone? Dell support insists it's a software issue, but I can't imagine how.

If it's a potential software issue, reinstall the Dell sound drivers, DO NOT use non-Dell sound drivers as they will either not work or not work correctly.
HERE<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>is the Dell RealTek driver for the 9100. It may be (probably is) the same as you have but reinstall it anyway.

Reinstalled drivers, no change.
Created a new .wav alternating tone test file to use with an external device and the Line In port: no bleed.
Everything else still exhibits a 30% bleed.
The only way I can make the tones work discreetly is to change the sound properties to 5.1 and uncheck all but the left and right speaker. However, attempting to record a capture that way gives unpredictable results, especially with 5.1 material. So, that's of no use.
Any other ideas? I've surfed around a bit and found others with the bleed issue with Win 7 on Dell machines:

I don't want to return the computer, but I can't work with this kind of crosstalk.

FOUND IT.
Computer came with THX "True Sound." This doesn't show up anywhere in the sound dialogs, Windows volume controls.. nothing. Wasn't until I dug around on the Dell quickstart bar (which I routinely closed) that I found the panel. Turned off "Surround" mode. All is now normal

The ONLY thing I can say is this.
I am a Professional Producer/ Audio Engineer
You are GOING to get audio bleed NO MATTER what you do because this is NOT a professional ASIO audio interface
This is not even a Prosumer (M-Audio, etc.) Sound Card.
Get a professional Sound Card from somewhere like MusiciansFriend
That will end your problem.
