Sustainable Desktop

Hello,

I am a dutch student who  is researching how we can achieve a more sustainable school. I would like to  know which computer is the most sustainable. We now have the Dell Optiplex 3010  and the Dell Optiplex 3020. Which one is more sustainable or would it be better if we would use another type of desktop?

Kind regards,
Job van Essen

Optiplexes from as far back as GX620 work with MSDOS all the way to windows 10.

So I guess I'm wondering what you mean by sustainable?

Dell can work with you and use XIMAGE to make a single image for your environment.

Thanks for your response, however I am researching which one is more environmental friendly (Which one uses more energy/current). We as group want to achieve a more environmental friendly school. I would love to know if you can think of a method to achieve this. Thank you in advance.

The 3010 and 3020 are ENERGY STAR® 5.2 compliant OptiPlex desktops. The 3020 micro is ENERGY STAR 6.0, EPEAT Registered. As are optiplexes back to 2006 aka all of the GX620 models.

Energy use depends on many factors including which processor and hard drive etc is used.  Low frequency processors and SSD's use LESS energy than the High end High frequency processors and large capacity hard drives.

Aka laptop drives and SSD's  use less power.

Further it depends on the SIZE of the unit.  USFF  and Micro versions use the least power.
