T3400 dead no setup no post just F2 F12

Having been away for 3 weeks the t3400 hasn't had any power for that time

On returning powered it up, and after the initial bios startup message (inc the F2 setup / F12 boot menu options) it just stops with a blinking cursor top left of screen.

No POST beeps

Choosing F2 (or F12 ) just results in the same cursor top left.

I'll change the MB battery tomorrow, but I doubt that's the problem.  I just can't think why it happened while powered down?

Thanks for any suggestions

And in the morning the problem has gone away - so I suppose I should have waited a few minutes for the battery to recharge??  Anyway problem solved.

If you haven't done it already, you should replace the motherboard battery. It obviously couldn't hold BIOS settings while the PC was without power while you were away.

Given the age of the unit the hard drive is likely on its last legs.

Time to buy a new one and reinstall before all data is lost forever.

DL2032 batteries are easily had from the phaarmacy section of the grocery store as they

are also used for blood sugar meters.

That's not the prob thanks, it has an SSD for programs and the HD for data, and in turn the main data is sugarsynced to various laptops and all the data is backed up with crashplan, both to a local portable HDD and to crashplan world hq.
