TWO 2560x1600 Displays?
I have an Inspiron XPS 8000 with nVidia GTS240 driving a Dell 3007WFP at 2560x1600. I'd like to add an additional 3007WFP (or maybe the new 27" that runs 2560x1600). Can this video card's second DVI port handle this? Or will I need to add a second card? Any other considerations anybody knows of?

Should be just fine with the one card. No need for another one as a PCI card will just create more headaches and may not be detected and run along with the PCIe GTS 240.

As a matter of fact, a new U3011 was installed alongside the existing 3008WFP this past weekend and I'm happy to report it's working flawlessly. I had my doubts, but it worked on paper so we pulled the trigger. By that I mean nVidia claims the GTS240 will support both outputs at full DVI-D simultaneously. And it's a PCIe x16 card plugged into the XPS 8000's available PCIe x16 slot., so throughput should be th full 16 Gbit/s with no bottlenecks. DVI-D apparently maxes out at 7.92 Gbit/s, so at x2 the bus is nearly maxed without being saturated. That may be the key to the whole thing, but I'm more a network guy and that's what we aim for with packetized data - could be apples to oranges for all i know about PCIe. What probably helps also is the PC isn't used for gaming or video editing, it just needs to have as much screen real estate as possible.

Jzabrams, it is likely that this will NOT work (at least at the native resolution of 2560X1600). Officially, DVI only supports up to 1280X1024 with a 1 channel DVI connection. Many older video chipsets only support 1 channel when both DVI ports are used. Even with newer chipsets, the first DVI port can support 2 channel but the second DVI port can only support 1 channel. You are going to have to check VERY carefully the specification of the LATEST graphics cards to see if they will support simultaneous 2 channel DVI on both DVI ports.
