Unable to Boot.
Hello,
I suddently run into a problem. I have had my Dimension 8200 since -01. I have had no problems.
But suddently I can't boot....
I see some screen shots that says..... MBa 4,30.... The it says
" strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility"
If I look into setup utility .... all my devices execpt floppy disk are unkonown ?
What has happend do you think, and how do I fix it ?
Thx

I just ran into the exact same problem with my Dell Dimension 8200. I was on the phone, and when I got off, I noticed my computer had locked up on me. I hit the power switch to turn it off and reboot. After a long pause, "strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility" It looks like my HD and CD drives are not being detected by the bios. I was able to boot from a floppy disk, but fdisk could not find any fixed disks.
I haven't installed any new hard drives or changed any settings. It just happened suddenly, and on its own.
I looked at the ABCD lights on the back. At the end of the DELL screen the A and D lamps are yellow (bad IDE controller) but when it moves on to the "strike F1..." it is all green but D which is Other error. I tried factory reset of BIOS and other tricks on the Dell support pages, but nothing works.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Mike
