Unable to apply factory reset to Optiplex 3011 All-in-One
Hi,
I have been trying to factory reset a brand new PC but it is failing. Whenever it is creating the disk structure it produces an:
error 0x400110020000 100a
and the reset fails at that point. I have tried running the reset from a USB Flash drive as well as from DVDs; I have also tried the different types of restores, the full reset and the system recovery options. The machine is Windows 7.
At this point, the system will not boot at all, it is missing the boot loader.
Any ideas how I can perform a restore?

Greetings Chbh-user!
Thank you for choosing the Optiplex 3011. I'll be happy to help you out here.
From your troubleshooting notes so far, it's actually sounding like a hard drive problem. I recommend running the diagnostics from the F12 menu. If you get any failure codes, please add me as a friend and PM your service tag, first/last name and email address and we'll start a case.
If the diagnostics pass, unfortunately, we're looking at a drive wipe. The process I would recommend is 'disk clean' using diskpart. You'll have to boot to a Windows reinstall CD and launch command prompt from the Windows recovery environment. Once you have the command prompt, follow the process in the below link. Scroll down to 'This is the Command Prompt window' and start from there. http://knowledge.seagate.com/articles/en_US/FAQ/005929en?language=en_US

Hi,
The machine passes all diagnostics so I'll try running DISKPART and let you know how I get on.
Thanks

Hi Justin,
The DISKPART CLEAR process worked perfectly, thanks. I now have the machine back to its Factory settings.
Many thanks
