Updating BIOS messed with my graphics cards

I'll try to explain the best I can, but I'm really confused. Earlier today I attempted to boot up my computer, and my monitor wouldn't work. I fixed this issue by using a DVI cable instead of an HDMI cable. To find out why the HDMI cable wasn't working, I found out I should update my BIOS. When I did that, my computer switched to Intel graphics. Now, when I use an HDMI cable, I have Intel graphics, and when I use a DVI cable, I used NVIDIA graphics. Before, I was using NVIDIA graphics with an HDMI cable. Why is this happening, and can I switch it so I can use NVIDIA graphics and an HDMI cable?
