Upgrade choices for VOSTRO 200 desktop to use for Video Recording

I had posted this inside another recent VOSTRO 200 upgrade question several days ago and got zero response so thought i would repost on it's own thread.  

I was just able to salvage a VOSTRO 200 slimline and looking to optimize it for capturing video off a DAZZLE DVC-100 from Pinnacle running Pinnacles Studio 12 software. I have had problems in the past using a Dell GX270 where any other software running could lead to glitches in the captured video, usually out of sync or gapped audio.  Not sure why but never had that problem on the original laptop (HP Pavilion DV1000) i had used until it crapped out - although it had 2GB memory but only a 1.6 GHz CPU.

In any case I can spend a little money to upgrade this box and wondering where I can get the best bang to make the video capture most reliable.

MEMORY:  It currently has 2 X 1 GB memory modules plus 2 X 512 GB memory modules for a total of 3GB.

 I will almost certainly upgrade the 2 x 512's.  I usually have a couple dozen windows open at a time but for this since it will almost constantly be recording I will have little or no other activity, so wondering if going with 4 GB VS 6 GB total RAM is likely to have any measurable impact on the recording qualitry

The processor is a Dual Core E4500 - 2.2 GHz - According to this thread:

I could upgrade to a Wolfdale Core 2 Duo, E8600, 3.33GHz, 6MB - about $50 on Amazon

It's currently running Win XP SP03 but I'm intending to upgrade it to Win 7 so I can install a USB 3.0 card for faster file transfers.

The video is on board.  Would a seperate video card make a big difference?  Since it's a slimline it can only handle a low profile PCI-e 16 (the PCI-e x1 will have the USB 3.0).  To tell the truth I really do not understand the relationship between on board memory, the processor, and a video card,  relative to the Dazzle which i'm guessing pre-processes the video to digital.

So there you have it, what should i prioritize to maximize the reliability of the video capture/recording?

Processor replacement?

Memory to 6 GB instead of 4 GB?

Video card (how fast can i go without exceeding the system capabilities?)

Warranty and support for Dell Computer systems does not extend to "upgrades" of OS or CPU.

Support is only for the originally installed OS and Processor.

Which processor works depends on Vostro 200's having either a G33M02, or G33M03 motherboard.

WMICFG can be used to Query this as well as Belarc Advisor.

Bios should be updated to current BEFORE attempting cpu change.

wmic bios get name, serialnumber, version

wmic csproduct get name, identifyingnumber, uuid

You can directly copy the data to a text file by right-clicking the command prompt and choosing “Mark”. Now drag the cursor to select the data and press Ctrl+C (Control key with “C”). Open the text-editor and press Ctrl+V.

 

The Vostro 200 was sold with two variants of motherboards, both made by Foxconn and both based on the G33M series.

The G33M02, that supports up to Core 2 Duo processors and the DG33M03, that supports up to Core 2 Quad processors.
 
Vostro 200 systems sold with Pentium Dual-Core or Core 2 Duo processors have G33M02 motherboards, that cannot be upgraded to Core 2 Quad processors without adding at least a 350W power supply and swapping the motherboard to the DG33M03 motherboard which is NOT possible with a Slim Vostro.

The reason the G33M02 doesn't support Core 2 Quad processors, is because it only has 6 voltage regulator ICs, the DG33M03 has 11.

"DAZZLE DVC-100" usb analog video capture is not a Dell Product.

USB Analog Video recording has many issues.

Audio out of sync is just one.  This is not supported here.

Well excuse me, but I think that's a bit of an abrupt and I must say narrow way of  interpreting my question.  The question is about preferences for upgrading a VOSTRO.  Last I knew that WAS a DELL product.  The Dazzle information is provided for background.  

Perhaps i am mistaken, but don't different methods of upgrading a machine have different impact based on the types of applications being used?  AFAIK if I'm running with dozens of browser windows open a memory upgrade would serve me better, but if I am editing large images in Photoshop perhaps a processor upgrade would be more effective.

So in spite of all your wonderful badges and contributions here how about you lighten up.  if you don't have anything to contribute maybe silence would be a better option.

Thanks for that. I've got the DG33M02 , so any idea what if any processor upgrade is possible without a MB swap and what kind of performance increase is likely?
