Upgrading Sound Card on XPS Studio 435 mt
I recently bought a PCI sound card only to find the one PCI slot on my 435 mt MB is taken up by the graphics card. OK, my bad - i should've checked this out first. That having been said you mean to tell me I can upgrade the sound card? This is supposed to be a high end PC. Granted, the 435MT is the low end of the high end. But still, it doesn't make sense to only have 1 PCI but that's a different discussion. Shouldn't there be at least 2 PCI slots minimum (one for graphics, one for sound)?
How could I upgrade the MB on this system? I don't like the thought of upgrading an entire MB just to be able to upgrade the sound card, but I have a high end sound card for recording.

You are correct. I didn't realize that but looking at the Dell manual there is only one PCI slot. But it has 3 PCI Express 1 slots and I know SoundBlaster makes PCIeX1 sound cards.
don't know if your Dell will accept a "Retail" motherboard (many Dell's will not because of the many proprietary motherboards) and if you can or do install a Retail motherboard you will need a new Retail copy of Windows as the Dell Windows or Vista discs will only install on a motherboard with a Dell BIOS.

Hi:
I have the Dell XPS studio 435T. Does it also mean I can't upgrade my Vista 64 to retail Windows 7 since I have the DELL bios??

Please do not "hijack" a thread with a different question (even tho in this case it's related to the 435).
However, the Dell BIOS issue is ONLY when using a Dell supplied Operating System reinstallation disc. It has nothing to do with upgrading, for example to Windows 7.
