Upgrading my video card (XPS 9100)

Don't get that card.  The new GTX 750 Ti just came out and it has better performance for less money.  Just some friendly advise.  See link.

What if I got a more up to date card like the r9 270x (http://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-Version-PCI-Express-Graphics-11217-01-20G/dp/B00B3WTWXU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1400151282&sr=8-5&keywords=r9+270x)? Would that be compatible with the STUDIO XPS 9100? (i have a i7-930 @2.8ghz)

You need to check the available free space inside the XPS Studio 9100 chassis for the Sapphire Radeon R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 DVI-I/DVI-D/HDMI/DP Dual-X card, it is 12.5" L, 3.5" W and 6.5" H and requires a power supply with 2 x 6-pin PCIe power connectors, the 525w PSU should have 1 x 6-pin and 1 x 6/8 pin PCI-E power connectors.

     Yes, your 525 W PSU is no doubt enough Power to run the GTX 650 TI SSC, if I may add the GTX 750 TI SC does not require a 6 pin PCI-E power connector, I am currently running one in my Studio 540 at 350 W PSU. Last time I checked Newegg was sold out of them, you could try Amazon.

Anyone out there still using a Studio 540 Desktop?? Hell, I've been looking through forums all morning for recent posts, nothing.. Anyways, I've had this 540 since 2009, always loved it never any problems.. People whine about the beeping sounds, little do they know its just the processors waking up ( 4 beeps for 4 processors). To answer your question I recently purchased the GTX 750 TI SC and installed it in my 540.. Runs perfect while running D3 or WoW optimal settings, 160 FPS, even with my <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU>350 W PSU.. No bottle necking here, the only negative aspect of the new 700 cards from EVGA would have to be the fan noise.. I know the louder it is the better it is, but for this case my 750 TI is reeving its engines.. Never had any problems with my old 550 TI when it came to fan noise. I suspect once EVGA releases their new WHQL driver all will be better. 

  Also, I recently checked my BIOS driver for Studio 540 seems that its out of date.. Current driver is 1.0.1.. Just wondering if anyone knew the changes to recent BIOS updates, if nothing significant then I will leave it alone.

You can find the 'fixes and enhancements' to the Studio 540 BIOS here:

You will note that only one updated 1.1.3 version is available, that has 'added enhancement for CPU function support'.

    As far as the BIOS update 1.1.3 to Studio 540 goes, do I need to be concerned about it not working with my video card (GTX 750 TI SC) or any other component for that matter?

The BIOS update is for processor upgrades and should not effect any other component, unless there's a failed, or a corrupted BIOS flash.
