I have a Dell studio Slim ( Sevice tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>) with a ATi radeon Hd 3450 - 256 Mo. as video card.....
This poor card doesn't work well anymore, so, I want to replace it for this one (ASUS Radeon HD 6450 650MHZ 2GB 1.2GHZ DDR3 CrossFireX DVI HDMI D-Sub HDCP PCI-E DX11) , my question is: is this card compatible with my system. I still have a windows vista as operating system.
Thank you

If this is the card you are talking about, then it will be fine as long as it comes with a low profile bracket. If not, you can probably take the bracket off your HD 3450 and put it on this card. Most low profile cards come with a full size bracket attached and you must remove it and put on the low profile bracket for it to fit in the slim cases.
As long as it is a low profile card, the Asus HD 6450 will work fine. Just make sure you uninstall the driver for the HD 3450 first before removing it and then install the new card and its driver.
Hi pemio,
Dell Studio 540s is a slim tower you can only upgrade to half height video cards. The above card is not compatible. Also, Studio 540s has 250 watt PSU. You will have to keep this into consideration while upgrading the Video card.

I think it will, but this one will fit for sure.
I haven't heard of a full-height 6450.
Are you saying that this video card is not compatible because the bracket is to big?
I already change my PSU last year, for a MIOS switching power supply. Model No. KY-500ATX P4
AC Input : 115/230V, 10A/5A, 50/60Hz
AC Output: 545W (Peak Power)
Thanks
Thank you.
No. Most low profile video cards come with low profile brackets but the full size bracket is attached to the card. You have to change the brackets on these cards for them to fit in your case. It has nothing to do with your power supply. The HD 6450 works fine on a 250 watt power supply. I'm not sure how you put in an ATX power supply because they don't fit in slim cases. You just need to make sure the card you get has low profile brackets if indeed you have a Dell slim case.
Do you have a Studio 540 or a 540S?
