What does that mean? What are you trying to do?

I didn't install a new driver, I reinstalled the old driver over the same existing driver.

Why do you think that? Is there something wrong with it?

I think that I may have duplicate video files.

I wanted to add that my video card is fine now, but I installed over an existing installation.

You installed a new driver over the old one? Anyway, if it's been working okay for the last few years you shouldn't need to do anything.

A few years back, my video settings were set to 8 bit for some unknown reason. I just want to check and see.

Thats a big no-no :o Always use the ATI Uninstaller to remove the old driver before installing another one. Its in the control panel and its hard to miss.

There's an ATI folder listed under program files, but I don't see any duplicate files listed there so maybe I don't have anything to worry about unless there is another folder that I should look at.

A few years back for some reason, my video colors were set to 8 bit instead of the usual 256 bit. Installing the video driver corrected the problem, but I'm wondering if I might have files listed twice when I only need one copy. When installing a video card, where are files placed on the hard drive?

It would have copied the files over the top of the original files-especially since you were installing the same driver again. If it's been working, it should be fine.

Not a problem then.
